We can learn many skills that increase stress tolerance.  Stress tolerance is the practiced ability to control our response to stress. Here are stress strategies based on the sources of stress and thee specific skills that allow increased tolerance of stress.

=> STRESSFUL EVENT => CAN YOU CHANGE WHAT IS CAUSING YOUR STRESS? => YES OR NO

 

(A) YES => CONTROL THE EVENT : (a) Time management, (b) Conflict resolution, (c) Assertion training, & (d) Financial planning

(B) NO => CONTROL YOUR RESPONSE: (a) Flexible thinking, (b) Emotional tolerance, & (c) Physical stamina

 

YES OR NO => HEALTHY LIFESTYLES : (a)  Regular exercise, (b) Good nutrition & weight, (c) Proper rest, (d) Social support, & (e) Spiritual development
