(1) When we don’t have control of stressful events, we still can control how we respond. This includes our mental, emotional, and physical responses. Using stress skills such as positive visualization, we can imagine new possibilities and gain new perspectives. By learning ways to relax, maintaining healthy lifestyles, and using stress skills such as deep breathing, we develop the stamina needed to withstand the physical toll of stressful events.
