Drought

Not a drought

It is not dryness—
but longing,
overflowing.

I tried to send it away,
but there was nothing left
to release.

As if I were parched,
I traced
the thirst
like tailoring cuts
upon memory.

Fearful of tomorrow,
I gathered my voice
into a single
shout—
toward the place
where truth stands.
