“Autumn”

© TaeHun Yoon, 2025

There is a quiet music
in the steps that wander through the woods—
a sound that rises
from beneath fallen browns and fading grays.

Light-green whispers, yellow gleams,
violet sighs, white breaths,
and again the greens, the tender pinks—
until suddenly the forest breaks open
into the bright brass of gold.

All year long, life has stretched itself
toward the sky—
from the first thaw of ice
to only yesterday—
climbing out of the deep earth
in a bold fortissimo.
Now it softens,
settles into a gentle pianissimo.

And with this soft farewell,
the forest quietly prepares
next year’s orchestra.

Its instruments—
now gold, then brown,
soon wrapped in winter white—
will grow silent.
The great symphony rests.

Yet under the frozen crust
something does not freeze:
a deep, slow bass—
a lullaby—
guiding every wandering soul
into peace.

Autumn’s path is a dazzling symphony.
The crunch beneath my feet,
the brief brilliance carried on every leaf—
these are the keys
that unlock the gates of heaven.

Come—let us walk into the forest now,
to welcome autumn,
to hear its final performance,
and step toward that heavenly museum
whose doors are just beginning to open.

Would you not like to meet God
this autumn—
and walk gently
through His abundant heart?
