Toward the Dusk

© TaeHun Yoon, 1972

I lift a shard of night,
arms spread wide—
and the sky begins to rise.

Through the snarl of wire I move,
and your house, my house
together climb into the light.

The stream bends onward,
while far away
dawn blooms behind a single fence—
not to bar us,
but to cradle morning’s flame.

With my heart,
a bundle opened wide,
I lay it on the western sky,
where even dust
becomes a shining road of stars.
